The 68th Primetime Emmy Awards were on last night! Here’s a list of winners:
Outstanding drama series– “Game of Thrones” (shocker)
Outstanding comedy series- “Veep” (still haven’t seen this one yet, but it’s won so many awards that I feel like I’m way out of the loop.)
Outstanding lead actor in a drama series- Rami Malek, “Mr. Robot” (this one’s also on my must watch list.)
Outstanding lead actress in a drama series- Tatiana Maslany, “Orphan Black” (she beat out some big contenders, including Viola Davis & Taraji P. Henson- good work!)
Outstanding lead actor in a comedy series- Jeffrey Tambor, “Transparent” (was really rooting for Aziz Ansari & William H. Macy for this one, but to be fair, I’ve never actually seen “Transparent”.)
Outstanding lead actress in a comedy series- Julia Louis-Dreyfus, “Veep” (hot dog, another one for “Veep”!)
Outstanding supporting actor in a drama series- Ben Mendelsohn, “Bloodline” (whoa, nice work, Ben! He beat out not one, but TWO, “Game of Thrones” actors in this category. Bloodline is a terrific show.)
Outstanding supporting actress in a drama series- Maggie Smith, “Downton Abbey” (queen Maggie Smith beat out THREE actresses from “Game of Thrones”. She’s always straight killin’ it though.)
Outstanding supporting actress in a comedy series– Kate McKinnon, “Saturday Night Live” (she really is one funny lady. If you haven’t seen any of her skits, I highly suggest it.)
Outstanding supporting actor in a comedy series- Louie Anderson, “Baskets” (was really rooting for Tituss Burgess for this one.)
Outstanding limited series- “The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story” (I really tried to get into this one, but just couldn’t do it. Maybe I need to give it another try.)
Outstanding television movie- “Sherlock: The Abominable Bride”
Outstanding lead actor in a limited series- Courtney B. Vance, “The People v. O.J. Simpson” (whoa, he beat out Cuba G JR.!)
Outstanding lead actress in a limited series- Sarah Paulson, “The People v. O.J. Simpson” (this show just kept on winning! Also, SP and I are birthday twins so I’m always rooting for her.)
Outstanding variety talk series- “Last Week Tonight With John Oliver” (sad there was no love for Jimmy Fallon or James Corden.)
Outstanding variety sketch series- “Key & Peele” (I appreciate Key & Peele, but I really wanted “Documentary Now!” to take this one. If you haven’t seen it yet, check it out on Netflix. It’s almost too funny.)
Outstanding reality-competition program- “The Voice” (glad to see “The Voice” win! Definitely a guilty pleasure of mine.)
