We all know J. Cole loves hooping – 4 of his album/mixtape covers have featured basketball related imagery, he’s played professional hoops himself, has NBA star friends, and has performed at the NBA All-Star Game in Charlotte in 2019. Now, Cole becomes minority owner of Charlotte’s lone sports team, the iconic teal and purple Hornets, as part of The Buyer Group with Gabe Plotkin, Rick Schnall, and country singer Eric Church.
Michael Jordan has been the majority owner of his home state Charlotte Hornets since 2010 when he bought the team for $275 million. The price The Buyer Group paid? A whopping $3 billion. Jordan will remain a minority owner and figure within the team.
Much like his debut studio album, Cole’s sideline story is looking promising. Expect to see much more of him court-side!
