It seems like every other day that we’re hearing a new story from Jada Pinkett Smith that, no pun intended, feels like slap to the face of her…husband? If that’s even what Will Smith is to her these days. According to Jada, the two haven’t been married for seven years. She also recently referred to the late Tupac as her “soulmate” which I can’t imagine feels great if you’re Will.
The once iconic couple were the picture perfect example of love…until they weren’t. J. Cole even had them immortalized as such in his song “No Role Modelz” in which he says, “I want a real love, dark skinned Aunt Viv love / That Jada and that Will love / That leave a toothbrush at your crib love / And you ain’t gotta wonder whether that’s your kid love.”
In a recent performance this week, Cole decided to skip over the homage to Will and Jada, as he let the crowd fill in the line instead with a grin on his face. Perhaps that’s not the love that he wants these days, and I can’t say I blame him.
