When you collaborate with a legend, you always take the risk of them showing you up on your own song. According to Lil Durk, that’s exactly what J. Cole did on their new song “All My Life” which serves as the lead single from Durk’s forthcoming album, Almost Healed.
“He smoked my ass on that one, for one — barely,” Lil Durk said in response to working with Cole. “That barely happens. But shout out to J. Cole, shout out to Luke, we made it happen.” Luke being the hitmaker himself, Dr. Luke, who produced the song for the dynamic duo.
If the song itself wasn’t feel good vibes enough, the video takes that to another level as the chorus comes to life thanks to a rambunctious group of kids who can look back on this one fondly some day. I can picture it now, “I was in a music video with J. Cole and Durk, you know!” one of the then grown kids says to their grandchild in 2082. “Sure, Grandpa. Let’s get you to bed!”
