While Universal Music Group might not be the biggest fan of the new AI-generated Drake & The Weekend song, “Heart On My Sleeve”, Meek Mill certainly is.
In a since deleted tweet, Meek just earlier today said, “this my 5th time banging this and it’s flame…We need new music from y’all 2” while tweeting out a YouTube link to the song. Something tells me someone higher up told him not to promote the song as it has been a big topic of discussion in the music world since it dropped. Should we be supporting and listening to AI-generated music? How is it fair to the artists themselves and where do we draw the line?
One thing’s for certain, Meek’s not alone, as the song wracked up more than 630,000 streams in just a day on Spotify alone. UMG has since had the song wiped out from all streaming services and if it’s still on YouTube, it probably won’t be for long. I think we can all agree on one thing, though: Drake and The Weeknd need to get back in the studio together!
