Believe it or not, Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” is no longer the most-played holiday tune in stores nationwide. According to Paste‘s report on data from PlayNetwork, which works with 400 different retailers to compose playlists for their brick-and-mortar locations, The Shins’ cover of Paul McCartney’s “Wonderful Christmastime” took the #1 spot this year, with Mariah fell to #2. It’s the first time that “All I Want for Christmas Is You” has not sat at #1 since its release way back in 1994.
