This is super interesting. The Portland Press Herald is reporting that Rep. Mark Dion – former Cumberland County sheriff & Portland police officer – has plans to push for the legalization of recreational use of Marijuana.
“Although there are three other possible initiatives considering the legalization of marijuana, the proposal I’m bringing forward is more conservative”
Dion’s plan includes taxing the sale of Marijuana by 15 percent to adults 21+ and limiting the number of retail stores in state to 20 –
“I don’t think the parents I’ve talked to want to see a marijuana outlet on every corner or in every shopping mall”
Recreational use of marijuana is still illegal under federal law. Let’s see what happens.
