We’re not going to have to wait another 7 years for a Rihanna performance. Rihanna has been confirmed to take the stage at the Academy Awards. RiRi will perform her Oscar-nominated song from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, “Lift Me Up.” The Academy Awards take place on Sunday, March 12th.
103 people watching Rihanna’s halftime performance at Super Bowl 57 filed complaints with the FCC, saying her set was too big on sex. One viewer in Cali compared Rihanna’s set to Kim Petras and Sam Smith’s performance at the Grammys, writing, “I don’t care what someone worships, but children shouldn’t be exposed to pornography, and as an adult, I don’t wish to see it … Where has decency gone? How about respect for others and self?” A complaint in Utah said, “This year, the halftime show was so indecent I had to turn off the TV because of the pornographic content.” The Super Bowl halftime show has had worse complaints. Justin Timberlake and Janet Jackson’s wardrobe malfunction at the 2004 Super Bowl generated 540,000 complaints! Last year’s halftime show featuring Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, 50 Cent, and Kendrick Lamar received 33 complaints.
Rihanna has been announced as the first artist who will be performing at the the 2023 Academy Awards where she will perform ‘Lift Me Up.’
