If you are still using the “laugh-cry” emoji to respond to a funny text or social media post, you are old. That’s according to Gen-Z. A Tik Tok battle has been going on between the members of the Gen-Z age group and Millenials. For context, Gen Z-ers were born after 1996. The Millenial group is anyone born between 1981 and 1996.
A 21-year-old told CNN, “I use everything but the laughing emoji. I stopped using it a while back because I saw older people using it, like my mom, my older siblings, and just older people in general.” Gen-Z’ers have started using the (skull) emoji to indicate “I’m dead” or “I’m dying” because the post was so funny. The
(loudly crying) face is also acceptable. Surprisingly, LOL and LMAO are in vogue with Gen-Z’ers too.
