After years of Expression over this matter, Salt-N-Pepa are officially telling Universal Music Group it’s None Of Your Business anymore, as they have a big red button that reads “LAWSUIT,” and they’re ready to Push It.
Alright, but in all seriousness, Salt-N-Pepa claim that Universal Music Group has been giving them the runaround in regards to their contract situation and returning the music rights to the group. Apparently, this is an ongoing issue for more than 20 years now and one that the legendary group claims has cost them greatly, ultimately hampering their full earning potential. They’re now seeking at least $1 million in damages and a permanent injunction that blocks Universal from distributing their music without the proper licensing moving forward.
Certainly not the kind of situation that makes you want to Shoop, but we’ll see how this all unfolds for the trio in the near future.
