On Friday (March 28th), Sean Kingston and his mom were found guilty of federal wire fraud charges in a Florida courtroom. The singer, and his mother, Janice Turner, were convicted on all five charges following a five-day trial related to over $1 million in wire fraud. A jury reached their verdict after three and a half hours of deliberation.
Kingston was placed under house arrest with electronic monitoring. He is required to post a $500,000 bond for his home and $200,000 in cash, NBC News reports. His mother was taken into custody and will remain there until her sentencing. They’re both scheduled to be sentenced on July 11th. Each count carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.
