It’s not always about how you start, it’s about how you finish. In it’s 50th year, Hip-Hop finished on top. Sales of Hip-Hop music made up for 25.3% of the market according to Chart Data, and was a heavy favorite amongst popular streaming apps.
R&B/hip-hop was the #1 genre in the US in 2023, with 277.27 million total album equivalents sold (25.3% of the market).
