(Video) Cardi B Defends Female Rappers After Jermaine Dupri’s Comments

Cardi B is clapping back at record producer Jermaine Dupri after he called out today’s female rappers for being “strippers rapping”. During an appearance on PEOPLE Now, Dupri shared his opinion about females in the hip-hop industry when asked about how he feels about Cardi B, Nicki Minaj, and Meghan Thee Stallion. Watch the video below:

He says that he can’t really pick the best female rapper because “…they’re all rapping about the same thing. I don’t think they’re showing us who’s the best rapper. For me, it’s like strippers rapping and as far as rap goes I’m not getting who’s the best.”

In response, Cardi took to social media to respond to that interview:

Cardi recognizes that “a lot of people saying nowadays female rappers only talk about their p—–.” She said, “First of all, I rap about my p—- because she’s my best friend and second of all it’s because it seems like that’s what people want to hear.”

She continued to say that there are many female rappers who don’t rap about that but are not supported. She doesn’t want people to blame them about rapping about the topic when they are the ones not supporting them, such as when she came out with her song Be Careful. Cardi B does have a point and it’s great that she is standing up for the females in hip-hop.
