1. One woman was shot in the leg and another received a graze wound to the abdomen during Friday night’s Chicago White Sox game. A statement from the White Sox said, “It is unclear whether the shots were fired from outside or inside the ballpark. White Sox security confirms that this incident did not involve an altercation of any kind.” A post-game concert featuring Vanilla Ice, Rob Base, and Tone Loc was canceled due to “technical issues.” (ABC)
2. Bob Barker has passed away. The man known for hosting The Price Is Right for decades was 99 years old. He won 19 Emmy Awards for his work. Barker was also known for his animal activism. He closed episodes of TPIR by reminding us to “spay or neuter your pets.” Adam Sandler, who fought Barker in a famous scene in Happy Gilmore, said, “The man. The myth. The best. Such a sweet funny guy to hang out with. Loved talking to him. Loved laughing with him. Loved him kicking the crap out of me. He will be missed by everyone I know! Heartbreaking day.” (CNN)
3. Hundreds showed up for the Gray-New Gloucester/Raymond Little League welcome home parade on Sunday. A Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office cruiser led the parade with a line of fire engines blasting their horns. They were followed by more than a dozen motorcycle riders. The Little League players sat in the bed of an empty tractor-trailer while throwing candy to the crowd and holding a sign that read “As seen on ESPN.” (PH)
4. USM student’s moved into the Portland campus’ new dorms over the weekend. The entire building known as Portland Commons is brand new and will house nearly 500 students. This is the second largest energy efficient college housing building in the country, with high standard air quality. (WGME)
