1. A new mural has gone up in downtown Biddeford honoring Johan Sebastian Duran Guerrero, the 25-year-old Colombian man shot and killed by an ICE agent last month. Artists Ryan and Rachel Adams and Erica Sedler are behind the mural on Alfred Street, which depicts Duran Guerrero with his young daughter. The project is meant to represent community support for his family and immigrants following his death. (WGME)
2. Three beaches at Reid State Park are closed for swimming after a heavy presence of seals and baitfish near shore, and multiple shark sightings over the weekend. Mile Beach, Half Mile Beach and East Beach are affected after a shark was spotted Saturday and additional sightings were reported Friday. Officials are urging beachgoers to be “shark smart,” stay close to shore and avoid seals and schools of fish. (WMTW)
3. Two 18-year-olds were arrested after a high-speed police chase in New Hampshire Friday night. State police say the driver was clocked going more than 100 miles per hour on I-95 and refused to stop. Troopers eventually blocked the car and deflated its tires, and both the driver and passenger are now facing several charges. (WGME)
4. A new study suggests we’re talking a lot less — about 30% fewer words a day than 20 years ago. The decline is biggest among people under 25, with researchers blaming texting, apps and remote work for replacing everyday face-to-face conversations.
