1. A plane crash off the coast of Bristol has left one person dead and another injured. The small, single-engine plane crashed into Pemaquid Harbor Thursday afternoon after potentially experiencing a mechanical failure. The pilot died at the scene, while the passenger was able to escape with non-life-threatening injuries. Officials are investigating the cause. (WMTW)
2. A domestic violence call in Saco led police to two alleged drug labs inside a home. Authorities say they found labs producing psychedelic mushrooms and DMT, along with cocaine, ketamine, MDMA and nearly 1,500 doses of LSD. 52-year-old Christopher Blanchette was arrested and is being held on $250,000 cash bail. 3. More sharks have been spotted off southern Maine, this time at Gooch’s Beach in Kennebunk and Goose Rocks Beach in Kennebunkport. Police are warning swimmers to stay alert, and anyone who spots a shark should calmly get out of the water and report it. There are currently no lifeguards on duty in Kennebunkport. (NCM)
4. Vice President JD Vance is returning to Maine Monday morning. Vance is scheduled to speak at CompoTech, a defense technology company in Brewer that works with the federal government and U.S. military. It’ll be Vance’s second visit to the Bangor area in just over three months. (WMTW)
5. The Lewiston-Auburn Balloon Festival is taking flight this weekend at Simard-Payne Memorial Park. Balloon launches are scheduled for 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. Friday, along with a carnival, food, live music and skydivers. This year’s theme is “Red, White, and Balloons” celebrating America’s 250th anniversary. The festival runs through Sunday and admission is free. (WGME)
