1. On March 5th Cumberland residents will decide if the town should build 107 units of affordable housing. Saco and Cape Elizabeth are among some of the communities that have said no to affordable housing projects recently. Opponents are worried about an already overcrowded school system and raised taxes. 2. A team of rescuers took more than 10 hours to save a hiker in conditions that included sustained winds topping 90 mph on New Hampshire’s Mount Washington. The hiker from Portsmouth didn’t have appropriate gear for the difficult winter conditions and continued his solo trek after he saw other groups turn around because of the dangerous gusts and wind chill of minus-52 degrees Fahrenheit. 3. In a class-action lawsuit filed Feb. 14 – Valentine’s Day – six dating-app users accused Tinder and Hinge of having a “predatory” business model. Dating apps rely on users purchasing subscriptions and premium features marketed as bringing hopefuls closer to love, the lawsuit said, arguing that in reality, users are being drawn into “compulsive” usage that does not help them meet their relationship goals. 4. The solar eclipse on April 8th will be a spectacle. Delta has planned a flight from Austin, Texas, to Detroit, Michigan, that will “spend as much time as possible directly within the path of totality” of the eclipse. Passengers will be in near darkness in the middle of the day for the entire flight. If you are an AV-Geek or a solar nut, this is the flight for you. (People)
