- 22 of the 30 players on the Falmouth High 2023 football team signed a petition presented to the school board Tuesday night asking that veteran coach John Fitzsimmons be replaced. Sophomore Matthew Grace spoke at the meeting saying “We are not adequately coached for competition, and our safety is not prioritized.” (PH)
- The Maine DOT has purchased the former Denny’s Restaurant on Congress St. in Portland to make way for a roundabout near Exit 5 of Interstate 295. A favorite all-night dining spot, Denny’s closed permanently in 2022. Demolition is planned for completion by the end of next month. (PH)
- RSU21, Arundel, Kennebunk, and Kennebunkport have decided to up the ante in the effort to combat the bus driver shortage. The district will offer $1,000 when you get hired, $2,000 on your one-year anniversary and $3,000 more when you hit two years. Starting wage is $20.81 per hour, but candidates with more experience could earn $25.49 per hour. (WMTW)
- Just in time for Valentine’s Day and for only a $5 donation, The Rhode Island Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals will write the name of your ex-lover on the bottom of a litter box for their cats to “poop all over it.” The shelter calls its “stinky retripootion”. (UPI)
