1. A 13-year-old girl is recovering after she was struck by a vehicle in Eliot and wound up unconscious in a cold ditch. Investigators used a drone to map out the crash scene and discovered debris from a vehicle. They were able to trace the debris to a 82-year-old man who lives nearby. He was charged with leaving the scene of a personal injury accident. (WMTW)
2. Maine’s Total Weather is tracking two storm systems during the holiday weekend. The first storm arrives late Saturday afternoon, bringing light scattered showers to areas south of Route 2 and about 1 to 3 inches of snow for the mountains to the north. 3. President Joe Biden won’t enforce a ban on the social media app TikTok that is set to take effect a day before he leaves office on Monday. Trump has since pledged to keep it available in the U.S. (WMTW)
4. Fox announced the Super Bowl will be available for free on its Tubi streaming channel. Previously, streaming the Super Bowl required customers to have a paid account with the network’s streaming channel. Super Bowl 59 will air on February 9th. (CNN)
5. Monday is Martin Luther King Jr. Day. In 1964, King received the Noble Peace Prize for his commitment to civil rights. He was 35 years old then, which makes him still the youngest male to ever receive this award.
