3. Theresa York of SoPo stole half a million dollars from her former friend and employer, dental clinic owner Pamela Anzelc. York pleaded guilty Monday to theft charges and was sentenced to 90 days in jail. Anzelc said. “I spent more time dealing with these crimes than (York) will spend behind bars.” (PH)
4. Known as “the Oscar Awards for restaurants”, the James Beard Foundation held its awards ceremony in Chicago on Monday. For Norimoto Bakery on Stevens Avenue, Atsuko Fujimoto accepted the win for Outstanding Pastry Chef. The West End’s ZU Bakery took home the award for Outstanding Bakery. (WMTW)
5. Apple showed off the new iOS 18 software yesterday. Apple has partnered with OpenAI to integrate ChatGPT into its products, including Siri. Apple presented AI features under the moniker ‘Apple Intelligence,’ including a text generator for emails and messages, an image-generating tool, and an advanced Siri voice assistant. Also, iPhone users will be able to schedule a text message to send later. The new software will roll out this fall. (JN)
