1. The Coast Guard is reminding the public that knowingly transmitting false distress calls is a federal crime, punishable by up to 10 years in prison and fines up to $250,000, plus the cost of the search. The Coast Guard Sector North New England received their second hoax distress call in two weeks on Wednesday. The most recent hoax was believed to have originated near Ogunquit. (WMTW)
2. Today will be the last comfortable day this week in Maine. Extreme heat and humidity arrives Tuesday, and sticks around through the end of the week. Record highs are expected in many spots. Thursday is the peak of the heat. Some towns could hit 100 degrees. (WGME)
3. According to the Topsham fire chief, a single-engine plane had a mechanical issue around 10:45 a.m. on Sunday. The pilot, who was the only person aboard, crashed in the Androscoggin River in Topsham. The plane sank, but the pilot was able to get out on his own. He was assisted to shore by two kayakers who happened to be on the river at the time. (WGME)
4. The Celtics are back in Boston tonight for Game 5 of the NBA finals. Tip off against the Mavs is scheduled for 8:30pm.
