1. Maine State Police released more info following a double homicide in Westbrook on Monday. The victims’ two children were in the car and witnessed the shooting. Police chased after the suspect, who “physically assaulted a bystander during his pursuit but was then tackled and disarmed by several other bystanders.” Police said there is no known connection between the suspect and the victims. 2. Underwater noises were detected by a Canadian military surveillance aircraft as the search for the missing Titanic submersible with five people aboard continues. Estimates from officials suggest there is only a day’s worth of oxygen left if the Titan is still functioning. (WGME)
3. Momo’s Cheesecakes in Ellsworth has operated on the honor system for years. You can stop by day or night for a slice of cheesecake, leaving cash or paying through Venmo. Around 3 a.m. last Friday, a man in a hoodie stole an unknown amount of cash from their change box after helping himself to a slice of cheesecake and a drink. The owners don’t want to involve the police but will be bringing in their change box at night to avoid future incidents. (WGME)
4. A bill requiring MaineCare to cover gender affirming care has been approved by both chambers of the Maine Legislature. Twenty states currently restrict gender-affirming care. Final votes are needed before it goes to Gov. Janet Mills’ desk. (WGME)
