1. Elon Musk’s brain chip company Neuralink announced it has received FDA approval to begin human trials. Musk envisions brain implants could cure a range of conditions including obesity, autism, depression and schizophrenia as well as enabling web browsing and telepathy. He made headlines late last year when he said he was so confident in the devices’ safety that he would be willing to implant them in his children. (Reuters)
2. Three people are facing several charges after Rumford police seized nearly 24,000 deadly doses of fentanyl hidden inside the body cavity of a Rumford woman. Rumford police K9 Niko indicated the presence of drugs in the groin area. (WMTW)
3. The Maine Warden Service is hoping to identify a woman who brought a young raccoon into a petco in Auburn. She may have exposed herself and others in the store to rabies. Security video shows her handling the raccoon and allowing others to touch and even kiss the animal. (WMTW)
