1. President Biden and first lady Jill Biden will likely have a low-key visit with families of the Oct. 25 mass shooting victims and others during a visit today to Lewiston. Gov. Mills said the president will spend Friday afternoon meeting privately with families and some of the people who helped at the scenes or at the hospital. The governor is scheduled to greet the Bidens in Lewiston shortly before 3 p.m. (PH)
2. One shooting victim at Central Maine Medical Center remained in critical condition as of Thursday morning, according to a spokesperson for the hospital. Two other patients are in stable condition, the hospital said. Another survivor, Gavin Robitaille, 16, is recovering at Massachusetts General Hospital, where he is expected to need several reconstructive surgeries. (PH)
3. A series of threats prompted lockdowns at MSAD 75, Northern Maine Community College and several Skowhegan-area schools. The arrested suspect allegedly had been making jokes about the mass shooting in Lewiston. A Topsham resident asked why he would make such jokes, he allegedly responded with “threats to show up at the local elementary school with his AR-15.” (PH)
