- The DA’s office says they will not be filing charges in connection with the hazing scandal involving Lisbon High School’s football team. The DA’s office says much of what was disclosed was self-described by involved juveniles as “horseplay”, “goofing around”, and incidents involving voluntary participation. - Born in 1912, the year the Titanic sank, the world’s oldest man, England’s John Tinniswood has passed at 112. He became the world’s oldest living man in April, after the death of 114-year-old Venezuelan Juan Vicente Perez. Tinniswood’s family shared, “His last day was surrounded by music and love. John always liked to say thank you. So, on his behalf, thanks to all those who cared for him over the years…” Tomiko Itooka of Japan is the oldest living woman at 116 years and 187 days old. (SKY)
- Dictionary.com has picked “demure” as its word of the year for 2024. “Demure” took off this year because of Jools Lebron’s usage of “very demure, very mindful” in an online video series. Dictionary.com said searches for “demure” had a “meteoric rise” of 1200 percent between January and August. “Demure” won out over other “word of the year” contenders, “brainrot,” “brat,” and “weird.” (CNN)
- The 12th Annual Hot Radio Maine Free Turkey Giveaway made Hot by Maine’ Credit Unions happened yesterday at the Wells IGA. This year 200 turkeys were handed out on a first come first serve basis, thanks to a matching donation from That Place restaurant in Ogunquit. (HRM)
