1. Kevin McCarthy was ousted as Speaker of the House Tuesday. 8 Republicans led by Matt Gaetz along with the Democrats voted for his removal. This is the first time in history that a House Speaker has been removed through a resolution. (JN)
2. More guns have been stopped at Portland’s Jetport than most New England airports. TSA says 6 guns have been stopped at security at the Jetport. Only Logan Airport in Boston has stopped more with 15. (WMTW)
3. Eight cities and towns in Maine broke their single-day temperature records yesterday. Augusta’s high of 84 degrees broke the record of 79 degrees set in 1983. Wiscasset was at 81 degrees, breaking the record of 75 degrees set in 2013. (WGME)
4. An internal Girls Scouts’ email obtained by CNN said the price for Girl Scout cookies will rise from $5 to $6 per box. It appears that inflation is the reason for the hike. Girl Scout cookie season runs from January through April. (Today)
5. Maine’s first indoor pickleball facility is under construction in South Portland. The Wicked Pickle will be located on Broadway near the Scarborough line. The building will include 8 courts, as well as a pro-shop, café, bar, smoothie bar and more. (WGME)
