1. On Monday, at least two drop-off ballot boxes in Oregon and one in Washington were set on fire. County election officials said hundreds of ballots were damaged. Authorities in both areas are investigating the fires. (CNN)
2. A small crowd of pro-Gaza protesters disrupted traffic as students were heading to school in Saco Monday morning. Activists have been putting a particular focus on the General Dynamics Weapons System factory. Protestors used fake blood and body bags to get their message across. Those props were placed right across the street from the nearby Young School. Outdoor recess was canceled at Young School “out of an abundance of caution.” (WMTW)
3. The Lisbon High School football team has a “culture of hazing and roughhousing,” an investigation into recent allegations of hazing at the school found. The hazing has included players whipping one another with leather belts, at least once until bruising occurred; at least one incident of a freshman student being hit headfirst into a trash can; and multiple instances of players being trapped behind a chain-link metal door and poked with brooms by upperclassmen, lawyers with the firm Drummond Woodsum found during their weekslong investigation. The Lisbon Greyhounds forfeiting their last four games. It’s not clear whether the suspension will carry into next year or what consequences students may face following the report. (PH)
4. TGI Friday’s abruptly closed nearly 50 locations. The restaurant’s store locator shows only 164 locations open. Last week, 213 Friday’s were open. Friday’s closed 36 locations earlier this year. Bloomberg reports that the chain is about to file for bankruptcy. (CNN)
5. Netflix launched a new feature called Moments. Users can save, rewatch, and share their favorite parts of any program across platforms like IG and Facebook. Moments is currently available for iOS users. An Android version will be released soon. (Variety)
