2. Maine DOT officials removed a homeless camp off I-295 on the edge of Deering Oaks Park for safety reasons on Thursday. The city is preparing to clear another area by the Fore River Parkway Trail next week. The city says there are more than 130 beds available now for single people experiencing homelessness at the Homeless Services Center. (PH)
3. Mold was found in 16 classrooms and two offices at Talbot Community School in Portland, according to the superintendent. Portland Public Schools announced on Thursday that they are delaying the start of classes at Talbot Community School for two days. (WGME)
4. More than a million vehicles are expected to travel the Maine Turnpike between today and Monday. That’s an increase of nearly three percent compared to last year’s Labor Day weekend, the Maine Turnpike Authority said in a news release. The MTA released the following predictions for peak traffic rates: Friday: Volume heaviest northbound between the hours of 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. (Friday anticipated to be the busiest of all four days system-wide) Saturday: Busiest hours expected to be between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. in both directions Monday: Volume heaviest southbound between the hours of 12 p.m. and 7 p.m. (NCM)
