2. Westbrook High was placed in lockdown for about 45 minutes yesterday after a 14 year old student brought in an unloaded handgun. The teen was charged with theft of a firearm and terrorizing. It’s not clear who the gun was stolen from. (PH)

Following decades of lagging growth, Maine’s population grew at more than twice the national rate last year, fueled in part by people leaving more populated states during the pandemic. “Maine’s population continues to grow at an encouraging rate because people from across the nation are recognizing what Maine people have always known: that Maine is a safe, welcoming, and beautiful state and that we offer unparalleled quality of life and opportunity,” Gov. 4. Cooper, Ace Flagg, and Montverde Academy will be playing two games in Maine on January 5th and 6th. This marks the first time Cooper and Ace are playing a high school game in Maine since winning a state title with Nokomis in 2022. The location and opponents for the games have yet to be announced.
