1. One man is dead and a woman was injured in a shooting outside the Blue Goose Tavern in Lewiston early Wednesday morning. Police say the shooter has been identified and is cooperating with investigators. Authorities are calling it an isolated incident and say there’s no danger to the public. (WMTW)

2. Portland police are asking for help finding 16-year-old Layla Monsell, who they describe as a runaway. She was last seen Tuesday near Glenwood Avenue and Deering High School and may also spend time around Kennedy Park. Anyone with information is asked to contact Portland police. (PH)

3. Biddeford is refunding thousands of sewer customers after discovering they were overbilled a total of $1.35 million between 2019 and 2025. Nearly all 4,300 customers were affected, with the average refund around $314 and some as high as $2,500. Customers don’t need to take any action to receive their refund. (WMTW)

4. The University of Maine System is seeing its largest enrollment in a decade, with more than 28,000 students expected across its seven schools this fall. The biggest jump is at UMaine Presque Isle, where enrollment is up 70%, driven largely by its online degree completion program. (WGME)

5. Portland just recorded its second-warmest summer since records began in 1941. Bangor had its fourth-warmest summer and Augusta its seventh-warmest. In Portland, eight of the 10 warmest summers on record have now happened within the last 16 years. (PH)
