Brockton, MA’s own AJ Dybantsa was chosen by the Washington Wizards as the 1st overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft! The Utah Jazz followed by drafting Darryn Peterson at number 2, and the Memphis Grizzlies took Cameron Boozer with the 3rd pick.

AJ Dybantsa maintained his top-prospect status for years and was fully expected to go 1st overall. He addressed his confidence before the event, and said, “I’ve been number 1 since my first rankings came out, so I don’t plan on dropping in the draft.” AJ revealed he skipped traditional on-court workouts with teams, and instead only participated in interviews and facility tours.

The Wizards will now look to build around their new draft pick to revitalize the struggling franchise!
