Kid Cudi is going star in, write, and direct a new biopic about the legendary artist Jean-Michel Basquiat! Cudi took to Instagram to announce the film, titled “JEAN,” and shared some early wardrobe tests featuring a wig mimicking Basquiat’s iconic hairstyle.

He said he felt challenged but excited to take on the project after doing extensive research and talking with people who knew the late artist. Cudi said the upcoming movie is “a love letter to Jean, the 80s, and New York City.”
Basquiat became a highly influential figure in the New York art scene before he died at just 27 years old. Filming for the new project will officially kick off in 2027!
