1. Portland is considering a ban on standing, sitting or parking on certain narrow or street-level medians. Mayor Mark Dion says the proposal is about pedestrian safety, not panhandling, and would apply to medians deemed unsafe based on crash data. The City Council will begin reviewing the proposal Monday. 2. A political canvasser is expected to face charges after allegedly stealing an Amazon package from a Woolwich home. 3. Heating oil prices are surging in Maine as we head toward winter. The statewide average is now $5.77 a gallon — up 74% from a year ago and just shy of the all-time record. Filling a standard 275-gallon tank is estimated to cost nearly $675 more than it did last year. (WMTW)

4. L.L.Bean says Freeport will always be its home as the company celebrates a $50 million renovation of its flagship store. The company’s CEO says the investment reflects L.L.Bean’s deep roots in the town, where it has had a presence for more than a century. (PH)
