Yikes… a bad day for “true love”!
Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale have decided to call it quits after 13 years of marriage. The No Doubt frontwoman filed for the divorce, citing irreconcilable differences and requesting joint custody of their three young sons Kingston, 9, Zuma, 6, and Apollo, 17 months. “While the two of us have come to the mutual decision that we will no longer be partners in marriage, we remain partners in parenthood and are committed to jointly raising our three sons in a happy and healthy environment,” the couple said in a statement. “To that end, we respectfully request privacy from the media during this time.”
Country star Reba McEntire and her husband Narvel Blackstock also announced yesterday they are ending their marriage after 26 years. “Despite this being the end of their marriage, they continue to support each other,” Big Machine Label Group said in a statement. “They have worked together for 35 years and will continue to do so. They have asked that you respect their privacy during this time.” The statement went on to explain that the couple have been separated for several months. McEntire and Blackstock share one son, race car driver Shelby. Blackstock is also dad to three other kids from a previous relationship, including Kelly Clarkson’s husband Brandon.
However, Will Smith took to Facebook on Monday to shut down rumors that he and Jada Pinkett Smith are ending their 17-year marriage. “Under normal circumstances, I don’t usually respond to foolishness (because it’s contagious),” he wrote. “But so many people have extended me their ‘deepest condolences’ that I figured, ‘What the hell… I can be foolish, too!.’ So, in the interest of redundant, repetitious, over & over-again-ness… Jada and I are NOT GETTING A DIVORCE! I promise you all–if I ever decide to divorce my Queen–I SWEAR I’ll tell you myself! #Dumb People Should Have to Wear Scarlet D’s.” Jada then issued a simple tweet: “My king has spoken.”
Meanwhile, Zooey Deschanel is both a newlywed and a new mom! Entertainment Tonight reports that the 35-year-old actress and producer Jacob Pechenik welcomed a baby girl on Monday. This is Deschanel’s first child. The couple, who have been dating since August 2014, also got married in a secret ceremony. “I am thrilled to confirm that Zooey Deschanel and her husband Jacob Pechenik are new parents to a beautiful healthy baby girl,” her rep confirmed. Details on the baby or wedding ceremony have not yet been revealed.
Here’s hoping that Jay Z and Beyonce stay together.
