2. An Ogunquit bakery shop has agreed to pay nearly $95,000 for violations related to hiring foreign workers. The bakery advertised jobs for counter attendants that would pay $8.79 to $9.09 an hour, then paid the foreign workers $10 to $13 an hour. 3. A puppy from Maine is taking part in Puppy Bowl XIV. Juniper, who was adopted from the Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland, will compete for team Ruff in the Puppy Bowl, which airs on Animal Planet. Ninety adoptable puppies from 48 shelters across the country will take part in the Puppy Bowl. It airs Sunday at 3 p.m., and the ARLGP is holding a viewing party for Juniper at Little Tap House in Portland From 3-5 p.m. (WMTW)
4. A simulation of Super Bowl LII run in the video game Madden NFL 18 predicts the New England Patriots will beat the Philadelphia Eagles by a score of 24-20. Tom Brady, who happens to appear on the cover of Madden NFL 18, will take home MVP honors, throwing for 342 yards, three touchdowns and one interception, according to the simulation. 5. This coming Major League Baseball season will be the last in which the Cleveland Indians will don the club’s polarizing Chief Wahoo logo. The franchise has used the big-toothed, red-faced, head-dressed caricature since 1947 despite the belief of many that it’s insensitive to Native Americans. “Major League Baseball is committed to building a culture of diversity and inclusion throughout the game,” MLB commissioner Rob Manfred said in a statement. Paul Dolan, team owner, made clear that there are fans who have a longstanding attachment to the logo and its place in the history of the team. Nonetheless, the club ultimately agreed with my position that the logo is no longer appropriate for on-field use in Major League Baseball.” (ESPN)
