1. George Floyd’s brother testified before Congress on Wednesday, asking lawmakers to “make sure he is more than another face on a T-shirt.” He spoke through tears about how George was killed after he was accused of trying to use a counterfeit $20 bill. “I am asking you, is that what a black man’s life is worth?” Floyd said. “Twenty dollars? This is 2020. Enough is enough.” His comments came during hearings on police brutality that were held one day after his brother was laid to rest in Houston. (NY TIMES)

2. Thousands of CrossFit gyms around the world are cutting ties with the parent company, including CrossFit Beacon in Portland. CrossFit founder Greg Glassman posted controversial remarks on social media pertaining to George Floyd, who died in police custody in Minneapolis. Glassman eventually apologized, but Reebok also ended its partnership with CrossFit. (WGME)

3. The U.S. Coronavirus cases top 2 million. America’s death toll stands at nearly 113,000. Maine reported 31 new cases of coronavirus Wednesday but no additional deaths. The statewide death toll stands at 100 with 2,637 cases of which 514 are active. Over 2,000 mainers have recovered. Gov. Janet Mills has extended her declaration of a state of civil emergency, this time through July 10, enabling Maine to keep getting federal funds for coronavirus response. (PRESS HERALD)

4. NASCAR formally banned the Confederate flag from its races and venues on Wednesday. The flag has been a regular sight at races over the organization’s 72-year history. Earlier this week, NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace called for the flag to be banned. NASCAR did not disclose how it plans to enforce the policy. (AP)

5. Major League Soccer will resume play on July 8 in Orlando, Florida, with a tournament featuring all 26 teams. The tourney will be held at ESPN’s Wide World of Sports Complex at the Walt Disney World Resort. No fans will be allowed and players will be kept “in a controlled environment.” MLS halted play on March 12 due to the coronavirus, just two games into its current season. (ESPN)
