1. Iran revealed that it has an arrest warrant issued for U.S. President Donald Trump because of a drone strike that killed a general in January. An administration official called Iran’s actions “a propaganda stunt that no one takes seriously and makes the Iranians look foolish.” (CNN)
2. More have said they will cease advertising on Facebook and Instagram over its failure to deal with hate speech and misinformation. Microsoft, Ford and Pepsi joined over 250 other companies in the #StopHateForProfit boycott. CEO Mark Zuckerberg has remained firm that Facebook will not regulate online speech. (HOLLYWOOD REPORTER)
3. Portland Mayor Kate Snyder says private citizens have asked for permission to paint a Black Lives Matter mural on Congress Street in front of City Hall. Snyder will present specifics to the City Council at its July 13 meeting. Ryan Adams, a painter and muralist, has offered his time and labor at no cost to the city. (PRESS HERALD)
4. The Maine CDC reported one new coronavirus-related death and 28 new cases on Monday. This brings the statewide case total to 3,219 with 105 deaths. 491 cases are active in Maine as of Monday. The nationwide death toll is over 126,000. (WMTW)
5. A portion of Main Street in Freeport will be closed to traffic on weekends starting July 4 to help local shops and businesses during the pandemic. The plan is intended to open up space to shop and dine and provide additional space for social distancing. (NEWS CENTER)
