1. The U.S. coronavirus cases top 2.6 million w/ a death toll of more than 127,000. The Maine CDC reported 34 new cases in the state on tuesday with no additional deaths, keeping the statewide death toll at 105. The state total case count is now 3,253 of which 502 are active. (WMTW)
2. Maine enters phase three of Governor Janet Mills’ reopening plan today. Spas and skin care establishments, outdoor amusement and water parks, bowling alleys, arcades, movie theaters, performing arts venues, and overnight summer camps can open while following safety precautions. (WGME)
3. The Portland School Board voted to eliminate school resource officers at Portland and Deering high schools. The next step for members of the school board will be to develop safety plans not involving armed law enforcement stationed inside schools. (WMTW)
4. Minor League Baseball officially canceled the season Tuesday. The Portland Sea Dogs say fans with tickets to games during the 2020 season can exchange them for any game during the 2021 season or request a refund no later than Friday, August 28, 2020. (WGME)
5. Panera is offering free coffee for three months if you sign up for its MyPanera Coffee+ subscription before July 4. Those who sign up can get one free hot coffee, iced coffee or hot tea every two hours (plus unlimited refills while you’re in the cafe).
