1. Amy Cooper, a white woman, who called the police during a videotaped dispute with a Black man over her walking her dog without a leash in Central Park was charged Monday with filing a false police report. The call inspired New York to pass a law that makes it easier to sue an individual who calls a police officer on someone “without reason” because of their background, including race and national origin. 2. The U.S. tops 2.9 million coronavirus cases with over 130,000 deaths. The Maine CDC on Monday reported 8 new cases and no new deaths. Statewide 109 people have died. As of Monday 527 cases are active in Maine. (WMTW)
3. Portsmouth city officials are pushing for a mask mandate at President Trump’s rally this weekend. There is no mandate in New Hampshire to wear face coverings. Trump’s campaign press secretary said face masks and “ample access” to hand sanitizer would be provided however masks and social distancing aren’t required. (NEWS CENTER)
4. A York municipal employee and a “human chain” of about 10 others helped rescue a diver in distress from water near nubble light. Lifeguards and safety personnel are urging people to be cautious of rip currents while swimming or diving. (NEWS CENTER)
