1. Former U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell has died. He was 84-years-old. A Facebook message from his family that was posted Monday morning said, “General Colin L. Powell, former U.S. Secretary of State and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, passed away this morning due to complications from Covid 19. “We have lost a remarkable and loving husband, father, grandfather, and a great American.” The family also said that Powell was fully vaccinated. 2. COVID-19 hospitalizations in Maine surpassed 200 for the first time since last month. The Maine CDC says 201 people in Maine are hospitalized with COVID. (WGME)

Governor Mills has announced millions of dollars for workers and small businesses in Maine. $39 million will go toward helping small businesses provide health insurance for workers. $80 million will help with unemployment costs in Maine. $20 million in grants for businesses that can prove they took a hit during the pandemic. 4. There was a vehicle pile up causing concern in the Auburn Walmart parking lot yesterday. Police believe that an 83-year-old woman was trying to park when she accidently pressed on the accelerator instead of the brakes. Her vehicle struck a shopping cart corral, then dragged it across the parking lot hitting several other cars. The force of speed caused her to then collide with a Honda Pilot and launched her car on top of the parked vehicle. (WGME)
