1. According to the Maine CDC there were 169 people in hospitals statewide with the coronavirus on Sunday, down from 193 on Thursday. Maine’s infection rate has dramatically improved. It now has the 33rd highest case rate.
2. Eastern Maine Medical Center is opening a breast milk donation center in Bangor today. There are a half-dozen other breast milk banks located between Portland and Belfast. The baby formula shortage largely stems from a plant in Michigan, which the FDA shut down in February due to contamination issues.
3. The first set of $850 relief checks from the state are expected to hit Mainers’ mailboxes this week. Mills said the state decided to send paper checks because many Mainers have outdated banking info with the state or have their normal tax refund go into a temporary account set up by their tax preparer, which she says could lead to the money getting into the wrong hands.
4. Powered by a huge third-quarter run the Golden State Warriors beat the Boston Celtics 107-88 on Sunday night in Game 2 to even the NBA Finals. Game 3 is Wednesday in Boston.
