1. Olivia Newton-John, most famous for her role in “Grease,” died on Monday, according to a statement from her husband. She was 73. The singer revealed in September 2018 that she was treating cancer at the base of her spine.
2. Portland city council sent 5 citizen initiatives to the November ballot. Initiatives included an $18 minimum wage and restricting cruise ship movement from the city.
3. Pfizer and a French biotech company are developing a vaccine to protect both adults, and kids as young as five from the most common strains of Lyme in the U.S and Europe. About 100 Maine residents are participating in a 13 month-trial.
4. The Bangor City Council has voted to ban the sale of flavored tobacco products in its city. It will take effect on January 1, 2023.
5. Physicist Étienne Klein admitted the photo of a distant star he posted was actually just a slice of chorizo sausage. Klein claimed the photo was taken by the James Webb Space Telescope. He said “This level of detail… A new world is unveiled every day.” Klien revealed that the nature of his prank was to warn others about fake news online.
