Coolio died Wednesday in Los Angeles at the age of 59. He was visiting a friend Wednesday afternoon when he passed away. He died of a suspected heart attack, although an official cause is yet to be determined, Coolio’s longtime manager said that Coolio went to the bathroom at his friend’s house, but after a while, he didn’t come out. The friend kept calling for him, and eventually went in and found Coolio laying on the floor. When the EMTs arrived they pronounced Coolio dead on the scene. No drugs or drug paraphernalia were found at the scene. An autopsy and toxicology test will be used to determine an official cause of death.
Arguably, his biggest song was, “Gangsta’s Paradise,” from the Dangerous Minds movie soundtrack that grew his star power to gigantic proportions. He won a Grammy in 1996 for the song. “Gangsta’s Paradise” reached a milestone of one billion views on YouTube in July of this year. Coolio leaves behind six kids.
