1. President Biden said there is no indication the objects shot down are connected to China’s spy balloon program. They are most likely tied to recreation or research institutions. New protocols are expected this week. (WMTW)

Tens of Thousands of Mainers will stop receiving their pandemic boost in SNAP benefits at the end of the month.  Dannette Killinger got $516 a month on her EBT card to buy food for her and her disabled adult son. 3. An OOB man and woman were arrested after a traffic stop and attempted escape on foot.  Police seized over a half kilo of fentanyl, around 45 grams of methamphetamine, 16 grams of cocaine and other an assortment of prescription drugs. (WMTW)

4. Thursday’s high in Portland was 57, besting the old record for Feb. 16 of 51, set in 1981. In Augusta, thermometers hit 55, eclipsing the previous record high for the date of 53, set in 2006. Temps in March are expected to run below normal. (PH)
