This Friday, May 5, Chris and Lisa Hopper’s fundraising team “Franky’s Fan Club” is having the event “Lungs and Roses” at Crow’s Nest Barbershop in Windham. All proceeds are going to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
Their son is almost 2.5 years old and has cystic fibrosis. He is one of the almost 400 Mainers and 30,000 people in the US that has this genetic condition. Those with Cystic fibrosis have thicker mucus throughout their body which typically causes issues with the lungs, pancreas and digestive system. A typical day in Franky’s life consists of taking upwards to 15 pills/liquid medications a day as well as being hooked up to a vest and nebulizer for 1.5 hours a day.
May is Cystic Fibrosis awareness month. Lungs And Roses helps round off Franky’s Fan Club’s fundraising efforts for the annual Great Strides Portland Walk held on May 20th.
This Friday, Crows Nest in Windham will be donating proceeds from haircuts booked between 4pm-6pm. 6pm they will have the Lungs and Roses event. There will be food from Sisters Gourmet Deli, beverages, shirts for sale, and some great raffles/auctions. Cool prizes donated from the Claw Coffee Roasters, Alaina Marie Handbags, Dump Guy, Health Resonates Portland, Ruger, Bingas, Samuels and many more.
