2. Gardiner High School is following a temporary policy to only display the American flag after an incident that occurred on Friday. This also includes a temporary ban on wearing a flag as a cape or affixing a flag to clothing or school walls. School officials say the incident that sparked the ban was when students put up and removed flags inside the school with competing political and social messages. (WGME)
3. Portland is forming a response team to address homeless encampments. Partnering with 18 different service providers the team will be action driven, and focus on protecting public safety by finding housing for the unhoused. (WGME)
4. New Balance is adding 200 jobs to its factory in Skowhegan where 270 people already work. Gov. Mills, along with Senators Susan Collins and Angus King, attended Monday’s groundbreaking for the 14-month, $65 million expansion project. The expanded Skowhegan factory will be able to produce more than a million pairs of sneakers a year. (WMTW)
5. Apple introduced its VR headset Vision Pro yesterday. It will cost $3,499 and will launch early next year. Apple also unveiled new updates coming to iOS 17. You’ll be able to leave a facetime video message. A new feature called Live Voicemail transcribes a caller’s message in real-time. A check-in feature makes it easier to keep friends and family alerted to your safety. And a tool called NameDrop lets users share their contact information by holding two iPhones close together.
