1. Former NJ Gov Chris Christie announced his second White House run at a town hall in Manchester, NH yesterday. “A lonely, self-consumed, self-serving, mirror hog is not a leader,” Christie said. “The person I am talking about who is obsessed with the mirror who never admits a mistake, who never admits a fault, and who always finds someone else and something else to blame for whatever goes wrong but finds every reason to take credit for anything that goes right is Donald Trump.” (WMTW)
2. Wildfires near Quebec have caused smoke to billow across the Great Lakes and Northeast. Air quality warnings were issued for people with respiratory conditions to stay inside. (AP)
3. A group of Gorham High School seniors have been allowed back onto their lacrosse team after being kicked-off for protesting a coach’s behavior. Gorham’s superintendent said “After talking with many of those directly involved in these events, we have made the decision that the suspension already served is sufficient and that the boys will be allowed to return to play effective immediately.” (WGME)
4. The PGA Tour and LIV Golf made an agreement to merge in order to end litigation between the two organizations. PGA Tour commissioner said, “There’s been a lot of tension in our sport over the last couple years. What we’re talking about today is coming together to unify the game of golf, and to do so under one umbrella. We’ve recognized that together, we can have a far greater impact on this game than we can working apart.” Any player who left the PGA for LIV can reapply to play in the PGA after the 2023 season. 5. Happy belated birthday to Virginia Oliver. She turned 103 years old yesterday. Virginia holds the record for the oldest lobster trapper in Maine and she has no plans of retiring. There’s a book about her on amazon called The Lobster Lady. (WGME)
