2. The Nonprofit, National Trust for Local News has agreed to purchase 5 of the state’s 6 daily papers and 17 of its weeklies in an effort to preserve local journalism. The Press Herald and Lewiston’s Sun Journal were included in the deal. (PH)
3. Police shared a video of a moose taking a stroll in Auburn yesterday. The moose avoided traffic and escaped into the woods. Maine’s moose population is the largest of all the lower 48 states, estimated at 60,000 to 70,000 animals. (WMTW)
4. Stampflation! The US Postal Service just raised the cost of first-class mail stamps 3 cents from 63 to 66 cents. Domestic postcards are up from 48 to 51 cents. International postcards jump from $1.45 to $1.50. (WGME)
