1. Wildfire tore through the Hawaiian island of Maui yesterday. At least six people died, dozens were wounded and 271 structures were damaged or destroyed. Officials feared the death toll could rise as fires continued to burn Wednesday afternoon, fueled by strong winds from Hurricane Dora. (PH)
2. On Aug 16th the Portland Expo will close to the 200 asylum seekers housed there as it needs to be vacated for the start of the Maine Celtics’ season. The city promised more information on its plans for new shelter and housing for Expo families on Friday. (WMTW)
3. Brunswick-Rockland train service was tested during the Maine Lobster Festival, drawing more than 600 riders. With additional stops in Bath, Wiscasset, and New Castle planned, the Coastliner is expected to launch weekend service next month. (PH)
4. The Gray-New Gloucester/Raymond Little League all star team is one win away from the Little League World Series. The undefeated Maine champions play Canton, Mass tonight for the New England Regional title.
