The Mills administration is seeking to cover the funeral costs of the 18 victims of the Oct. 25 mass shootings.“Her administration is working to ensure that the families of victims do not have to bear any financial costs for the funerals of their loved ones,” Press Secretary Ben Goodman said. He said the funds are expected to come from the Office of the Maine Attorney General’s victims’ compensation program and supplemented by funding from the governor’s contingent account. (PH)
3. A jury found a Portland man guilty of knowing or intentional murder for the hit-and-run death of Nicole Mokeme in Acadia Park. Jurors deliberated for a little less than two hours after several days of testimony and evidence. Raymon Lester faces anywhere from 25 years to life in prison. (PH)
4. Mainers will vote today on eight referendum questions. The questions include deciding who’ll take charge of delivering electricity in the state, whether foreign governments should be allowed to spend money on elections in Maine, and who has the “right to repair” your vehicle. (WGME)
